Use more of your own solar
Without storage, surplus solar is exported for pennies. A battery keeps it for the evening, when your home uses the most.
Buy electricity when it is cheapest
Charge overnight on a time-of-use tariff and run your home on stored energy through the expensive peak hours.
Works with or without solar
Battery storage can be fitted alongside a solar system or on its own, and both routes are zero-rated for VAT until March 2027.

Battery storage, at a glance
Electrical battery storage installed in residential accommodation is zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027, whether installed with solar panels or as a standalone system. Savings depend on your tariff, usage and system size.
